I decided to start on paper before moving over to Figma to try and develop my ideas:
I created my monogram through the process shown above. I started on paper, then moved to Figma where I started with very basic shapes initially, slowly playing around with how the T and J integrated until I had a basic idea of the shape I wanted. After I had decided how I wanted the T and J to intertwine, I flattened the shape (which I had made with all drawn lines) and used the pen tool to create various anchor points in order to allow me to warp and manipulate the shape more freely.
I finally came to the monogram shown above after many hours of tweaking the anchor points and the edge smoothing at the various points. I decided to add an interior shadow just to give the monogram some dimension and help it feel clean and sleek.
